Increasingly, our neighborhood is becoming a well-regarded culinary center, with local favorites Alfio’s, Booeymonger, Chads, Clydes, (Chef Geoff’s) Lia’s, Meiwah, Potomac Pizza, (Chef Bryan Voltaggio’s) Range, and Sushiko, among others, and national chains such as the Capital Grill, The Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle’s, Le Pain Quotidien, Maggiano’s Little Italy, Panera Bread, P. F. Chang’s, and Starbucks, to name a few. The Collection at Chevy Chase plans to open a number of new restaurants in the coming months.
Moviegoers enjoy the quick walk to the AMC Mazza Gallerie, an upscale cinema of 10 theatres showing movies in premium formats. Or they can take a five-minute drive to the Regal or Landmark Bethesda Row theatres in downtown Bethesda, Md.
The neighborhood has long been home to well known department stores and luxury and specialty retailers. In recent years, a bustling row of haute couture boutiques opened, which some refer to as Washington's own Rodeo Drive.
At the same time, the area remains friendly to shoppers at virtually every notch on the economic scale. Those who relish a good bargain can easily carry their finds home to The Willoughby.

The Willoughby is situated within Maryland's Montgomery County Public School system, one of the highest ranked counties in the state and in the nation. Children living at The Willoughby attend public schools in the Bethesda-Chevy-Chase High School cluster, as well as several private schools in the area.
Friendship Heights and Chevy Chase have attracted a large number of healthcare practices, located in medical office buildings along Wisconsin Avenue. In addition, the National Institutes of Health are just a couple of miles north of here. Other nearby medical centers include Sibley Memorial Hospital (2.5 miles), Suburban Hospital (3 miles), and Georgetown University Hospital (4 miles).
The Willoughby is a proud member of the Village of Friendship Heights, a unique county subdivision that provides a variety of services to all Willoughby residents. The Friendship Heights Village Center maintains a library, meeting rooms, an art gallery of promising local artists, and administrative offices for the Village government. It is the meeting place and focal point for a wealth of Village services, from movies and self-improvement classes to health monitoring and wellness seminars. It also sponsors trips throughout the region each year.
